a NEW student writing contest.
Who is eligible? Any student up to age 18.
What should students write about? What happens AFTER the end of a book? Write a new chapter showing us the most interesting (but still likely) possibility. Your chapter may show events happening immediately after the book ends, a month or two later, or even several years afterward.
Students may choose to write about any book recommended on this website.
Your story should remain true to the book: your characters might have changed, but it's important to keep the flavor of the original story. We don't want a predictable, boring, chapter, but we don't want it so crazy that Farmer Boy has developed telekinetic powers and is directing the colonization of the moon.
Completed essays should be at least 3/4 of a page long, and no longer than two typed pages.
Organize your story logically, use fantastic vocabulary, and proofread for things like spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
When is the contest deadline? Entries should be submitted electronically by February 12, 2012, using the contact form on this page.
Can students enter more than once? Yes.
What do the winners win? Winning stories will be featured on our website. We can't wait to read them!
